ASTON MARTIN TAKES A LEADING ROLE IN THE CLASSIC CAR SHOW
30th January 2015
Aston Martin is set to do more than simply star in the forthcoming new motoring television programme The Classic Car Show, as the luxury British brand is providing the show with a once in a lifetime prize; the opportunity to own one of its sports cars.
Today confirming its role as commercial associate of the new TV series, distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures Television and airing in the UK for the first time on Thursday 5 February (Channel 5, 7pm), Aston Martin will provide a V8 Vantage for the winner of The Classic Car Show’s season-long competition*.
The British sports car brand – which marked its centenary in 2013 and which boasts a rich heritage of luxury sports cars – is featured numerous times during the 13-episode series, presented by Jodie Kidd and Quentin Wilson.
Connecting the company’s rich heritage through to contemporary Aston Martin models, each week viewers will be able to follow the build of the V8 Vantage through a series of short films shot at Aston Martin’s global headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire.
At the end of the series, one lucky viewer will have the opportunity to own the keys to this future classic. Marek Reichman Chief Creative Officer said: “Aston Martin’s rich heritage of world-class sports cars is clearly a great subject for this exciting new series, and I’m sure the lucky recipient of the V8 Vantage – whoever he or she may be – will be thrilled to join our select band of sports car owners worldwide.”
NISSAN’S REVOLUTIONARY GT-R LM NISMO RACER SET TO TAKE CENTER STAGE AT 2015 CHICAGO AUTO SHOW
2nd February 2015
Nissan today announced that after its brief cameo appearance in Sunday's Super Bowl XLIX "With Dad" commercial, the radical new Nissan GT-R LM NISMO race car will make a two-week pit stop at the Chicago Auto Show from February 14 to 22 at Chicago’s McCormick Place.
The GT-R LM NISMO, which will take on the best in the world in the race to glory at the Le Mans 24 Hours, will be the centerpiece of a performance-oriented NISMO display at the auto show – which will also include the 600-horsepower Nissan GT-R NISMO, the 370Z NISMO, JUKE NISMO and JUKE NISMO RS and two concept vehicles, the Sentra NISMO Concept and a new NISMO street concept that will debut February 12.
A truly global effort, the GT-R LM NISMO has been created by a team of carefully selected experts in Japan, the United States and Europe. Unlike other LM P1 cars, the GT-R's V6 3.0-liter twin-turbo gasoline engine sits in the front of the front-wheel-drive car, while the hybrid power is harvested from the front driveline to augment acceleration.
"LM P1 cars are the most extreme sports cars in racing today so, for Nissan and NISMO, the opportunity to innovate at the highest level could not be missed," said Darren Cox, Global Head of Brand, Marketing & Sales, NISMO. "Taking on the best in the world and competing to win is a daunting task for Nissan. The competition is well-established and the racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship is ultra-close, but this is a challenge that Nissan has accepted and the Nissan NISMO team will fight like it has never fought before."

Is your car a vision in pink? Beaulieu is calling upon owners of pink cars to take part in its inaugural Simply Pink rally which will take place on 31st May 2015. No matter if it is classic or modern, fast or slow, big or small, any vehicle is welcome – so long as it is pink!
The event, which is supporting Breast Cancer Campaign, is open to vehicles in every shade of this much-loved colour. So, if your car, van or truck is finished in rose, lilac, lavender or any other shade, then Beaulieu would love to see you. Participants will have the opportunity to park their pink vehicles together in the Beaulieu parkland and meet other like-minded owners with the same sense of motoring fun.
Pink has long had a cult following amongst motorists wishing to stand out from the crowd. In the 1950s, American car manufacturers celebrated the optimism of the new post-war era with brightly-coloured Cadillacs, Fords, Chevrolets and more; pink was the most daring colour on the options list. As transatlantic style came to Europe, glitzy British models such as the Vauxhall Cresta PA embraced two-tone pink colour schemes.
In 1961, as the Morris Minor became the first ever British car to sell one million units, 350 examples of the special edition ‘Minor Million’ were built, all finished in a cheerful shade of lilac with white leather interior trim. In 1989, the special-edition Mini Rose added a dash of colour to its white bodywork with a contrasting pink roof, a colour scheme shared by the latest DS3 from Citroen.
Pink is very much in vogue today in the motoring world, with fans spoilt for choice by the Techno Pink Chevrolet Spark, the Fuchsia Renault Twingo, the Hot Magenta Ford Fiesta and the Idol Pink Fiat 500, amongst others. The thriving aftermarket trend for re-spraying cars in this vivid hue also shows no signs of fading away. Simply Pink will capture the sense of fun that owners of these vehicles share.
For drivers and passengers arriving in their pink car on the 31st May and joining the event, entry prices are £10 for an adult, in addition to a £2.50 donation to Breast Cancer Campaign, and £5 for a child. To purchase your tickets in advance, visit www.beaulieushop.co.uk or telephone 01590 612888. Alternatively, tickets can be purchased on the day when you arrive. All other visitors should enter Beaulieu via the main Reception at normal Beaulieu attraction admission prices.
Entry into the Beaulieu parkland is from 9.30am, when the Brabazon restaurant will be open for breakfast and refreshments. Admission to Simply Pink includes entry to all of the Beaulieu attractions, including the National Motor Museum, World of Top Gear, On Screen Cars, Palace House and Beaulieu Abbey.
Simply Pink is part of a busy calendar of Simply rallies, each with its own motoring theme. A full list of Simply dates can be seen on the Beaulieu website, www.beaulieu.co.uk/beaulieu-events.
